Karen Meffert

Karen Meffert (born May 26, 1927 in Berlin ; † December 27, 2010 in Zurich ) was a Swiss radio and television presenter .

biography

Karen Meffert grew up with relatives in Switzerland and Germany after the early death of her mother . She trained as a singer and actress at the Bern Conservatory. In 1961 she started working for Swiss radio and was one of the first women in this profession. She was best known for her children's and youth programs ( Bettmümpfeli , Chummerchischte ). But she also worked for Swiss television as a presenter, editor and producer, for example for programs like Ratgeber , Seniorama and Treffpunkt .

In 1989, Karen Meffert stopped working for radio and television. She founded the Foundation School for Applied Gerontology ( taken over by the Pro Senectute in 1993 , closed in 2010). In 1994 she opened the workshop for speech culture.

Karen Meffert had two daughters from an early marriage, whom she raised alone after the divorce from her husband.
