The Kargozaran ( Persian حزب کارگزاران سازندگی Hezb-e Kaargozaaraan-e Saazandegi ; HKS), in German the Party of the Servants of Reconstruction , derived from a press organ of the same name, a political party in Iran thathas existed since 1996and was founded by several members of the cabinet of the then incumbent President Alī Akbar Hāschemī Rafsanjānī . The party is considered one of the most important supporters of Rafsanjani and his politics.

history

The founders of the political party were Mohammad Haschemi , Dr. Mohammad Ali Najafi , Dr. Morteza Mohammadchan , Dr. Issa Kalantari and Dr. Reza Amrollahi .

The political trend had its beginnings in a daily press called Kargozaran (Reconstruction) , which by order of the government has not been allowed to appear since January 1, 2009, as it was increasingly critical of the politics of the then incumbent President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad . The last trigger was an open letter published on December 30, 2008 by the Iranian student group Daftar-e Tahkim-e Vahdat (German: Office for Strengthening Unity - Clerical Circle ), which described Hamas as a terrorist organization. From the very beginning, the Kargozaran press dealt mainly with analytical questions of politics and political economy, social affairs and art, and also opened up to liberal values.

Political program

The initiators of the Kargozaran party largely come from a wing of the conservative political right in Iran, which, inspired by the new, more liberal course, split off from it in Rafsanjani’s second term and followed the path of a pragmatic technocratic modern right. In contrast to the traditionalist right (and also in contrast to the partly socialist echoes of the reform-oriented left), Kargozaran represents a modern economic policy with an opening to the west and thus represents the political center in the Iranian parliament, the Majles .

The party advocates popular sovereignty and party pluralism , against an expansion of the Islamic Revolution to other countries, for reconciliation with the USA and the admission of investments by Western companies, but without the Velayat-e Faqih , the foundations of the Islamic Republic established in 1979 To ask a question.

The party's general secretary is Gholamhossein Karbastschi , a former mayor of Tehran (1988–1998)
