The Lysá nad Labem – Praha line is a double-track, electrified main line in the Czech Republic , which was originally built by the Austrian Northwestern Railway , which was privileged by the kk, as a branch line of its main connection between Vienna and Mittelgrund . It begins in Lysá nad Labem ( Lissa on the Elbe ) and leads to Prague via Čelákovice . Only the section Lysá nad Labem – Praha-Vysočany is in operation today, the further line to Praha- Těšnov has been closed since 1984.
history
On June 25, 1870, the Austrian Northwest Railway received the concession to extend its existing Vienna – Jungbunzlau line to Tetschen, including a branch line to Prague. Part of the concession was the obligation to "complete the concessioned lines ... within four years and to hand over the finished railway lines to public transport ". The line was opened on October 4, 1873. From October 15, 1875, the trains ran to the end point Prague Vltava station, which later became Praha-Těšnov station .
After the nationalization of the ÖNWB, the line was transferred to the kk Österreichische Staatsbahnen kkStB on January 1, 1908 . After the First World War, the newly founded Czechoslovak State Railways ČSD took their place .
The line has been electrified with 3 kV direct current since 1976.
The passenger traffic between Praha-Vysočany and the terminus station Praha-Těšnov ended on July 1, 1972. On June 3, 1984 the section was finally closed and a little later dismantled.
On January 1, 1993, the line was transferred to the newly founded České dráhy (ČD) in the course of the dissolution of Czechoslovakia . Since 2003 it has been part of the network of the state infrastructure operator Správa železniční dopravní cesty (SŽDC).
The 14.7-kilometer section between Mstětice and Praha-Vysočany will be completely renewed from March 2019 to May 2023 for a total of Kč 4.3 billion . Part of the project is the renovation of the railway station Praha-Vysočany and the construction of a new station Rajská zahrada on the same station of Prague metro line B . After the completion of the section, the line speed is to be increased from the current 100 to 150 km / h.
