Zeleneč (until 1927 Slovak "Linč"; German Silinz , Hungarian Szelincs - until 1907 Szilincs ) is a place and a municipality in the Okres Trnava of the Trnavský kraj in western Slovakia . The number of inhabitants as of December 31, 2009 was 2443 people.
geography
The municipality is located on the eastern wheel of the Trnavská pahorkatina ("Tyrnauer Hügelland") and thus in the Danube Hills , five kilometers south of the city of Trnava on the Parná river , which flows through the municipality on the eastern edge.
history
The place was first mentioned in writing in 1243 as Terra Scelench . It first belonged to the Pressburg Castle and in 1278 became the property of the Pressburg chapter, later also to the lordship of the Counts of St. Georgen and Bösing. During the feudal period, Zeleneč often had disputes with the Opoj municipality .
