Dolné Lovčice (Hungarian Alsólóc ) is a municipality in the west of Slovakia with 752 inhabitants (December 31, 2019). It belongs to the Okres Trnava , part of the Trnavský kraj .

geography

The community is located on the eastern edge of the Trnavská pahorkatina hill country . The Krupský creek flows to the west and south of the village and flows into the Blava flowing east of the village . The Bratislava – Žilina railway runs north of Dolné Lovčice and the D1 motorway to the south . The center of the village is at an altitude of 138  m nm and is eleven kilometers from Trnava .

Neighboring municipalities are Brestovany in the north, Siladice in the east, Šúrovce in the south-east, Zavar in the south and south-west and Trnava in the north-west.

history

Chapel in place

The place was first mentioned in writing in 1292 as a hole . At that time Michael, son of Count Bach, gave the place to the Neutra chapter. The village was owned by several families of the lower nobility. A seal from 1633 with the inscription "SIGILLUM PAGI INFERI LOVSCZIC" indicates that it had its own local authority. In 1828 there were 92 houses and 667 inhabitants, whose main source of income was agriculture.

Until 1918, the place in Pressburg County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and then came to Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia.

From 1960 and 1975 the place was merged together with Horné Lovčice in the municipality Lovčice and then incorporated into the municipality Brestovany until 1990. Since then, Dolné Lovčice has been independent again.

population

According to the 2011 census, 751 people lived in Dolné Lovčice, 725 of them Slovaks and one German, one Russian and one Czech. 23 residents gave no information in this regard. 661 residents committed themselves to the Roman Catholic Church, eight residents to the Jehovah's Witnesses, six residents to the Evangelical Church AB and four residents to the Greek Catholic Church; one resident professed a different denomination. 42 inhabitants had no denomination and the denomination was not determined for 30 inhabitants.
