history
The place was mentioned in writing for the first time in 1235 and was part of the estate of the nearby Bibersburg . In the Middle Ages, the German "guests" came to the village and lived next to the established Slavic population. In the 16th century the village got the right of a market town (a minor town). In the 16th century, the Habaners settled in the village, but they often had conflicts with the Germans. During armed conflicts in the Kingdom of Hungary in the 17th and early 18th centuries, the place was looted and burned down several times and was at times just a simple village. In the 18th century the majority of the village was Slovak. In 1828 there are 184 houses and 1,096 inhabitants who were employed in agriculture, viticulture and wood processing.
