Borová (German Joachimsthal , Hungarian Fenyves - to 1888 Borova ) is a municipality in the west of Slovakia with 457 inhabitants (December 31, 2019). It belongs to the Okres Trnava , part of the Trnavský kraj .
geography
The municipality is located in the western part of the Trnavská pahorkatina hill country in a gentle valley. The center of the village lies at an altitude of 234 m nm and is 12 kilometers from Trnava .
Neighboring municipalities are Dlhá in the north, Ružindol in the southeast, Budmerice in the south, Štefanová in the west and Doľany in the northwest.
history
The place was first mentioned in writing in 1589 as Joachimsthall and was founded on the initiative of Nikolaus Pálffy northeast of the existing place Budmerice . The newly founded village belonged to the estate of the Bibersburg .
In 1715 the village had vineyards and 15 taxpayers, in 1828 there were 47 houses and 338 inhabitants, whose main sources of income were agriculture and viticulture.
Until 1918, the place in Pressburg County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and then came to Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia.

According to the 2011 census, there were 396 residents in Borová, including 367 Slovaks and one Magyar. 28 residents gave no information in this regard. 308 residents committed themselves to the Roman Catholic Church, three residents each to the Evangelical Church AB and the Congregational Church and one resident to the Greek Catholic Church; one resident professed a different denomination. 34 residents had no denomination and the denomination of 46 residents was not determined.
