Naháč (Hungarian Nahács ) is a municipality in the west of Slovakia with 405 inhabitants (December 31, 2019). It belongs to the Okres Trnava , part of the Trnavský kraj .
geography
The municipality is located in the Trnavská pahorkatina hills at the foot of the Little Carpathians . The built-up area is on the right bank of the Dubovský creek . The center of the village is at an altitude of 240 m nm and is 23 kilometers from Trnava .
Neighboring communities are Hradište pod Vrátnom in the north, Dobrá Voda in the northeast, Dechtice in the east, Horné Dubové in the southeast, Horná Krupá in the south, Trstín in the west and Jablonica in the northwest.
history
Naháč was mentioned in writing for the first time in 1426 as Nahaacz and alternately belonged to the estates of the castles Guttenstein and Smolenitz . In the 16th century, Croatians settled in the village, which is still reflected in name endings today. According to later sources, the church and parish were built in 1594. The Franciscan monastery north of the village (locally called Katarínka ), founded in 1618 and abandoned in 1786 after the Franciscan order was dissolved, was also important for the history of Naháč . In 1828 there were 80 houses and 583 inhabitants, whose main sources of income were agriculture and viticulture.
Until 1918, the place in Pressburg County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and then came to Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia.
Place name
The place name is derived from the Slovak common name naháč for the autumn crocus (Colchicum autumnale) , as this plant is very common in the area. In addition, the word means "the naked" in German.
population
According to the 2011 census, there were 460 inhabitants in Naháč, 453 of whom were Slovaks. Seven residents gave no information in this regard. 409 residents supported the Roman Catholic Church, ten residents the Evangelical Church AB, three residents the Greek Catholic Church and one resident of the Reformed Church; one resident professed a different denomination. 22 residents had no denomination and the denomination of 14 residents was not determined.
