Biely Kostol (until 1927 in Slovak "Biele Kostoly" or "Bielý Kostol"; German Weißkirchen , Hungarian Pozsonyfehéregyház - until 1907 Fehéregyház , Latin Albanus ) is a place and a municipality in the Okres Trnava of the Trnavský kraj in western Slovakia . As of December 31, 2009, the number of inhabitants was 1405.
geography
The municipality is located in the Danube hill country five kilometers west of the city of Trnava , on the right bank of the Parná river .
history
The place is mentioned for the first time in 1332–37 in a register of the church tenth as Alba Ecclesia . Initially belonging to the town of Tyrnau, the community often changed hands. In 1711 the whole place burned down, in 1719 the Esterházy family had a country castle called Albanus (after a Jesuit villa near Rome) built, which served as a summer residence.
Until 1918 the place was in Pressburg County in the Kingdom of Hungary and then came to the newly formed Czechoslovakia . From November 1st, 1974 to 1992 the municipality was part of the city of Trnava.
