history

The place was first in 1539 as Sowouchyn written records and was part of the Herrschaftsguts Biberburg . In 1543 six of a total of 28 houses were settled. In 1547 a wave of the fleeing Croatian-speaking population settled in the village, so that in 1554 all 28 houses were inhabited and their number had increased to 39 in 1583.

In the 17th and 18th centuries, Zvončín was owned by the noble Pálffy family, who, however, often pledged the village to the Pax and Zichy families and to the Tyrnau Jesuit college. In 1715 the village had vineyards and 17 taxpayers. In 1828 there were 56 houses and 411 inhabitants, whose main sources of income were agriculture, viticulture and pottery.

Until 1918, the place in Pressburg County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and then came to Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia. From 1974 to 1995 it was part of the Suchá nad Parnou municipality.

The place name means something like "Glockendorf".
