Zavar is a place and a municipality in the Okres Trnava of the Trnavský kraj in western Slovakia . The earliest documented mention of the place took place in 1255 under the name Zovvor . The number of inhabitants as of December 31, 2007 was (calculated) 2078 people.
Zavar is located southeast of the city of Trnava near the D1 motorway on the Dolná Blava river . Large parts of a Peugeot vehicle factory for the production of the Peugeot Citroën were built in the area of the village .
Zavar is the birthplace of the composer Gejza Dusík (1907–1988) as well as the football player Ľuboš Hanzel (* 1987).
