Karin Rausch

Karin Rausch (* 1949 in Duisburg-Hamborn ) is a German translator .

After studying linguistics and German studies , she received her doctorate in 1979. From 1975 to 1983, she spent longer periods abroad in London and at the universities of Shanghai and New Delhi , where she worked as a lecturer for the DAAD . Since 1987 she has been translating literature from English. She is also a regular translator for National Geographic . She also became known for her dramatic translations together with Elfriede Jelinek .

In 2007 Karin Rausch was awarded the Austrian State Prize for Literary Translation . Today she lives in Vienna .
