Karl Abetz Prize

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Karl Abetz Prize has been awarded since 1972 by the Institute for Forest Use and Forest Work Science at the Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg im Breisgau . It was awarded for excellent contributions to the promotion of profitability in forest operations. The award was named after the Freiburg forest economist Karl Abetz (1896–1964) and was also intended to honor his outstanding services. The award, endowed with DM 10,000, was donated by Max Willibald Hereditary Count of Waldburg zu Wolfegg and Waldsee in 1971. Since 1997, the Karl Abetz Prize and three sponsorship prizes for outstanding dissertations and diploma theses have been awarded every two years.

The Institute for Forest Use and Forest Work Science was dissolved at the end of 2012; the last award of the Karl Abetz Prize took place in 2011.
