Karl-Dieter Hoffmann

Karl-Dieter Hoffmann (born August 8, 1950 in Weißenthurm ) is a German political scientist.

Hoffmann studied political science and economics at the University of Duisburg-Essen and was established in 1985 with a thesis on the military government of Ecuador at Nuscheler to Dr. sc. pol. PhD. He has been the managing director of the Central Institute for Latin American Studies (ZILAS) since 1986 and teaches political science in Latin America on behalf of the Catholic University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt .

His scientific work focuses on drug trafficking, the social situation and its economic conditioning, as well as relations between the USA and Latin America , especially the Andean countries, as well as Mexico , Guatemala , Panama and Cuba . He is a member of the German Association for Political Science DVPW and the German Latin American Research Working Group ADLAF .
