Karl Gayer Medal

Under the term Karl Gayer Medal , two different awards are given, which refer to the forest scientist Karl Gayer and his commitment to natural silviculture . First, an award from the Technical University of Munich and, second, an environmental prize , awarded by the Association for the Environment and Nature Conservation Bavaria (BUND) .

Karl Gayer Medal from the University of Munich

The Forest Science Faculty of the Ludwig Maximilians University of Munich and, after the reorganization from 1999, the Faculty of Forest Science and Resource Management of the Technical University of Munich, have been awarding the Karl Gayer Medal at irregular intervals since 1984 . In memory of Karl Gayer as a “pioneer and pioneer for natural silviculture in Europe”, it honors foresters and forest owners who have made an exemplary contribution to natural silviculture .

Karl Gayer Medal of the Bund Naturschutz

With the Karl Gayer Medal , the Association of Nature Conservation Bavaria, in coordination with the Working Group on Natural Forest Management (ANW), has been honoring people who have made exceptional contributions to natural forest management since 1977. The medal is awarded annually to a silviculture company or to an individual forester who has practiced good silviculture in the sense of BUND and ANW.
