Karl-Heinz Thun
Karl-Heinz Thun (born April 29, 1937 in Rostock ; † June 15, 1993 ibid) was a German sailor who competed for the German Democratic Republic .
The trained ship fitter practiced his sport for the SC Empor Rostock . In the 5.5 meter class he was a GDR champion several times and has already sailed here with Paul Borowski and Konrad Weichert . In the mid-1960s they switched to the Olympic dragon class , in which they won their only championship title in 1969.
The kite crew Borowski, Weichert and Thun won the bronze medal at the European sailing championships in 1968 and at the 1968 Olympic Games in Acapulco . After winning the European Championship silver in 1969, the crew won the European Championship title in 1970 and 1972. At the 1972 Olympic Games in Kiel , the three Rostockers received the silver medal behind the Australian boat.
