Karl Alfred clouds
Karl Alfred Wolken (born August 26, 1929 in Wangerooge ) is a German writer .
Karl Alfred Wolken is the son of a blacksmith. He lived on the East Frisian island of Wangerooge until 1943 and then attended schools in the Harz Mountains and in southern Germany. After brief participation in the Second World War and being a prisoner of war, he completed an apprenticeship as a carpenter and worked as a factory carpenter from 1949 to 1959. He has been a freelance writer since 1960 . From 1962 to 1964 he also worked as a lecturer . Since 1965 he has lived with his wife Elisabeth Wolken , b. Gericke, who was director of the German Academy at Villa Massimo from 1965 to 1993 , in Rome.
Karl Alfred Wolken has emerged as a writer of poetry (mainly ballads ) and prose (mainly short stories ).
Wolken is a member of the Association of German Writers and the PEN Center Germany . He received u. a. the following awards:
- 1960: Literature Prize of the Kulturkreis der deutschen Wirtschaft
- 1962: Villa Massimo grant
- 1963: Sponsorship award from the Free State of Bavaria
- 1975: Georg Mackensen Literature Prize
