Karl August Czeija

Karl August Czeija (born February 20, 1843 in Vienna ; † February 14, 1909 there ) was a pioneer of the Austrian telegraph and telephone system.

In 1880 Czeija opened a workshop for mechanics and telegraph construction in Vienna , which in 1884 with the participation of Franz Nissl in the "Telephon- und Telegraphenfabrik Czeija, Nissl & Co." was converted. The company's location was Zieglergasse 27 in Vienna's 7th district. In 1907 the company moved to Dresdner Strasse 75 in the 20th district (see Brigittenau District Museum ). This company played a major role in building the telephone network of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy .

Karl August Czeija was the father of Oskar Czeija , who founded RAVAG , the forerunner of ORF , in 1923 .
