Karl Christian Behrens

Karl Christian Behrens (born June 30, 1907 in Hamburg-Wandsbek ; † October 19, 1980 in Berlin ) was professor of business administration at the Free University of Berlin . There he taught general business administration from 1950 to 1975. His specialist books deal with demoscopic market research , sales advertising , company locations with their agglomeration effects and changes in retail .

Life

During the Nazi era , Behrens became a member of the NSDAP in 1933. He was severely hindered in his scientific development and the university career he was aiming for. In the winter semester of 1947/48, Behrens held exercises in accounting and business administration at Humboldt University . From 1950 Behrens was an associate professor at the Free University of Berlin. From 1951 to 1970 he was a full professor for general business administration and trade and market economics.

Karl Christian Behrens died in Berlin in 1980 at the age of 73. His grave is in the Dahlem forest cemetery .

Appreciation

Behrens founded scientific market research and advertising theory in Germany.
