Karl Christian Thust (born January 12, 1942 in Oberschreiberhau , Riesengebirge) is a German church musician, Protestant theologian, religious educator and hymnologist.

Life

After fleeing from Silesia, Thust grew up in Rinteln / Weser and Diez / Lahn. In Frankfurt / Main and Schlüchtern he put on study of church music, the C and B exam and then studied Protestant theology in Hamburg and Mainz, where he in 1972 to Dr. theol. received his doctorate. Since 1959 he has been working as an organist and choir director, and full-time as a cantor for eleven years, especially in the Burgkirche in Ingelheim , where he continues to take on parish and church music services. From 1972 to 2002, Thust worked as a school priest, including a group leader and community services, in Mainz and Ingelheim and, since studying, with numerous publications and lectures, also as a hymnologist , with a focus on new sacred songs and the songs of the Evangelical hymnal . He is a member of the International Working Group on Hymnology (IAH) .

The marriage to the doctor Doris Thust had two children.
