Karl Dellberg

Karl Dellberg (born February 18, 1886 in Brig ; † July 17, 1978 in Siders ; legal resident in Brig) was a Swiss politician ( SP ).

Career

Karl Dellberg was the son of Joseph Ernest Dellberg and Marie Imhof. As a post office clerk he worked in Brig from 1903 and in Naters from 1919 . As early as 1904 he campaigned for the interests of the workers in his region. Only after several attempts did he succeed in founding a social democratic cantonal party in 1919, which he presided over until 1957. The postal administration was against his union activities and retired in 1933. For economic reasons, he took over the Volkshaus in Brig until 1950 and moved to Sierre in 1951 .

Karl Dellberg was elected to the Brig municipal council in 1912. In 1921 he was the first social democratic member of the Grand Council . He won a seat in the National Council in 1935. However, his State Council candidates from 1937, 1941, 1945 and 1953 were unsuccessful. Despite his age, he ran again in the National Council elections in 1967 against the will of his party and was included on his own list ("Socialist People's Party"). ) chosen. As senior president , he opened the new legislative period of the Grand Council from 1953, 1957 and 1961 and that of the National Council from 1959, 1963 and 1967.

Critical Upper Valais , founded in 1971, received editorial support.
