Karl Dressel

Karl C. Dressel (born February 13, 1918 in Munich ; † June 18, 2004 there ) was a German publisher. He was editor of the local newspaper HALLO and founder of the publishing house of the same name.

Career

Dressel founded the HALLO advertising publisher Dressel & Co. in Munich at the end of the 1960s. On March 27, 1968, a local weekly newspaper for the southeast of the Bavarian capital was published for the first time under the title HALLO Waldtrudering . The positive reactions to the new local paper quickly led to an expansion of the circulation area. Just one month after the first edition, a HELLO appeared on April 27, 1968 for the entire Trudering district .

With citizen-oriented reporting, Dressel placed his paper in the Munich press landscape as an independent local newspaper. In the following years further editions were added for the east of Munich and its eastern environs. In 2008 the total circulation was more than 200,000 copies. In 1998, Dressel sold the HALLO publishing house to the Münchner Merkur / tz media group .

In addition to his publishing activities, he was involved in numerous projects in the areas of culture, social affairs and sports in the Trudering-Riem district. The Truderinger Kulturkreis was founded on his initiative in the summer of 1996 .

Awards

Dressel has received several awards for his journalistic and publishing work. In 2004 he received the Perlach Prize for his life's work as a journalist . By resolution of January 23, 2008, a street in the Trudering-Riem district was named after him.
