Karl Eckert (politician, 1928)

Karl Eckert (born February 15, 1928 in Uchtelfangen ; † October 2004 ) was a German politician of the CVP and the CDU .

Life and work

Eckert worked as an electrical engineer after completing his apprenticeship with a master craftsman's examination. He was later appointed guild master and was a member of the state examination committee. Until 1965 he worked in a technical position at Saarland University and was chairman of the works council.

politics

Around 1948 Eckert joined the CVP, which was merged with the CDU in 1959. From 1956 he belonged to the municipal council in Eppelborn and the administrative board of the Eppelborn office . In 1965 he was elected to the Saarland state parliament, to which he was a member until 1975. In August 1974 Eckert was finally elected mayor of the newly formed municipality of Eppelborn in the course of the regional reform. He held this position until his retirement in 1983. Since then, he has been chairman of the support group of the psychiatric nursing home in Habach and, from 1993 until his death, founding chairman of the cultural property foundation of the Eppelborn community.
