Karl Friedrich von Sievers

Karl Friedrich von Sievers (* 1761 in Kiel , † August 1, 1823 in Riga ) was a Danish civil servant and Vice President of the Livonian Higher Regional Court.

Life

Karl Friedrich von Sievers was one of the sons of the German district administrator David Reinhold von Sievers and Friederike Karoline von Carols (half-sister of the Russian Tsar Peter III. ). He spent his youth at Kiel Castle and in Cismar ( Holstein ). This was followed by studies at the University of Kiel and the University of Göttingen before he entered the Danish civil service. In 1796 his cousin Paul was proclaimed Russian tsar and brought Karl Friedrich to the Russian judicial authority in Livonia. Here he made a career from assessor to vice-president of the Higher Regional Court and finally, in 1816, he was appointed councilor of the Russian Empire. In Livonia he acquired the Elisabethshof manor in 1817. He was awarded the Knight of St. Wlademir in 1818.

Karl Friedrich von Sievers was married to Katharina von Reichard (* 1770, † 1829). His son Ernst Peter (1795–1876) became President of the Livonian Higher Regional Court.
