Karl Heinrich von Löwenfinck (* 1718 in Großenhain ; † unknown) was a German porcelain painter. He was the middle one of the three Löwenfinck brothers.

Life

Karl Heinrich was born in Großenhain in 1718. His year of birth can be calculated from the information in the company archive of the Meißner Porzellanmanufaktur , where he is listed as a 12-year-old painter's apprentice for 1730 - he cannot be found in church records. His parents are Heinrich Wilhelm von Löwenfinck , an incapable officer in the Saxon service and his wife Anna Magdalene, nee. Saxon.

Like his older brother Adam Friedrich von Löwenfinck , Karl was accepted as an apprentice in the Meissen porcelain factory. In 1731 he received 3 thalers and 2 groschen monthly wages, including 1 thaler as a so-called after-work wage, and in the personal list of June 12, 1731 he is referred to as a "Mahler journeyman" , but is in eighth position in the list of Apprentices.

In September 1734 he left the factory without permission before completing his apprenticeship and went to the military in Dresden. However, the manufacture declined a delivery offer; Although Löwenfincken “(...) recently caught up and walked away as an apprentice still standing (...)” , he had always said beforehand, “(...) that he would rather be with a sword than a brush Wanted to make happiness in the world (...) ” and therefore it was feared that he might also persuade his two brothers to flee.

In 1738, Karl Heinrich had made it a sergeant and deserted from the military. His subsequent whereabouts are not known. From 1741 at the latest he was with his brother Adam Friedrich in Fulda , where he was listed as a painter ( “Schmeltz painter” ) in the Fulda faience factory from October 15, 1741 to March 31, 1743 . Then his track is lost, the place of death and the year are not known.
