Karl Heinz Essig

Karl Heinz Essig (born October 25, 1935 in Wiedenbrück ) is a German painter and graphic artist .

Essig combines the media of drawing and painting in his works. Recurring symbols, such as B. the bird, the "x" or the eye (often in the form of eye flowers) give his oeuvre a high recognition value and the works a profound meaning in terms of content.

Life

Karl Heinz Essig studied painting and interior design at the Werkkunstschule in Kiel from 1960 to 1964. Until 1972 he worked as an interior designer in Hamburg, after which he worked as a furniture designer in his old home in Rheda-Wiedenbrück.

Since 1990 he has been a freelance artist with a focus on painting and graphics.

In 2005, the Liesborn Abbey Museum honored the artist on his 70th birthday with a large retrospective.
