Karl Neuwirth

Karl Neuwirth (born January 21, 1932 in Gschwandt ; † June 13, 2016 in Laakirchen ) was an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ) and ceramist. Neuwirth was a member of the Austrian National Council between 1983 and 1993 .

Neuwirth attended eight classes of elementary school from 1938 to 1946 and attended various courses from the Chamber of Labor and the trade union between 1959 and 1962. In addition, from 1963 to 1964 he graduated from the Chamber of Labor and Employee Social Academy. Neuwirth worked as a farm worker between 1946 and 1949 and worked as a paper worker from 1949 to 1954. From 1954 he worked as a ceramist at the Österreichische Sanitär- und Porzellanindustrie AG (ÖSPAG) in Gmunden. From 1965 he held the function of the central works council chairman of ÖSPAG, and he was also a member of the ÖSPAG supervisory board.

Neuwirth became a member of the Laakirchen parish council in 1967 and rose to become a member of the parish council in 1968. In 1971 he took over the office of vice mayor, in 1979 he was elected mayor. From 1983 he also held the function of district chairman of the SPÖ Gmunden and was chairman of the socialist faction of the union of construction and woodworkers of the Upper Austria regional association. Between May 19, 1983 and November 30, 1993 he represented the SPÖ in the National Council.
