Karl Nikolaus Haas (born February 13, 1920 in Kronach ; † August 12, 1991 ibid) was a German heraldist , graphic artist and administrative officer.

Life

Born in Kronach as the son of the Reg. Inspector Johann Haas and Berta Haas, b. Dippold. After attending the secondary school in Munich, he completed his training as an administrative officer at the district offices of Starnberg, Lichtenfels and Ebern. On July 8, 1942, he married Mrs. Johanna Anna Eiffert in Fritzlar. After joining the civil service, he worked at various locations, such as the district offices of Ebern, Miesbach and Kronach. He was involved in various cultural and historical associations. He was a member of the Herald from February 5, 1977 until his death .

Heraldic work

He designed and drafted the coats of arms of the districts of Upper Bavaria, Upper Palatinate and Upper Franconia, as well as more than 30 district coats of arms in Bavaria and several hundred city, market and community coats of arms in Bavaria. He drew numerous family coats of arms, the coat of arms of the auxiliary bishop Wiesend von Bamberg and the coat of arms of the Frankfurt Stock Exchange .

Honors

Due to his commitment in the field of municipal heraldry, he was honored with the Medal of Merit of the Upper Franconia District.
