Karl Rieger (politician)

Karl Rieger (* 1903 ; † 1983 ) was a German local politician and the last mayor of Haunstetten before it was incorporated into Augsburg .

Life

In 1955, Rieger was appointed mayor of the then still independent town of Haunstetten. His predecessor was Xaver Widmeier , who had been in office since 1919 . A large number of structural measures were implemented during Rieger's time in office. These include, for example, the natural swimming pool, the building yard and the sports stadium. The construction of the Haunstetter hospital was also initiated by Karl Rieger. Rieger's term of office ended with the incorporation of Haunstetten into Augsburg in 1972.

Because of his services, Rieger was awarded the golden citizen's medal.
