Karl Schell

Karl Schell (born January 26, 1864 in Freiburg im Breisgau ; † April 11, 1936 in Basel ) was a Swiss composer , conductor and organist .

From 1886 he worked in Basel as a conductor of wind orchestras and choirs as well as an organist (including the St. Clarakirche ). As the conductor of the Stadtmusik Basel - at that time it was still called the Basler Musikverein - he worked for years.

His compositional oeuvre includes choir and wind orchestra works. He composed and arranged numerous pieces for the Basel Carnival . He founded his own publishing house in Basel , which enjoyed a good name in brass music circles.
