Karl Sims
Karl Sims (* 1962 in Boston ) is an American computer scientist who in 1994 thus became famous that he with genetic programming virtual beings ( evolved virtual creatures as has produced), the respect for themselves in realistic simulated environment of a function (. Fast Moving ) have prevailed in the so-called artificial evolution .
life and work
Sims worked at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). He received his BS from MIT in 1984 and his MS from Mit Media Lab in 1987. He has worked for Thinking Machines and Whitney-Demos Production. He also helped found Optomystic.
In 1998 he was a MacArthur Fellow , one of the Americans who "show extraordinary merit and promise continuous and intensified creative work". He currently runs GenArts, a company that deals with special effects in films.
