Karl Völcker

Karl Völcker , from 1910 Ritter von Völcker (born June 14, 1864 in Freudenthal; † December 1928 ) was a lawyer at the Bavarian railway administration and most recently president of the Reich Railway Directorate in Munich .

Life

Völcker was born as the son of the director of studies Valentin Jakob Völcker and his wife Elise Karoline, geb. Perron, born in Freudenthal. After graduating from high school (1882) he studied law and in 1889 went bankrupt. From 1890 he was employed by the Bavarian railway administration. In 1892 he was made official at the Bamberg Railway Authority, in 1893 at the General Management of the State Railways and there in 1896 as Secretary. In 1899 he moved to the Foreign Ministry's transport department and was appointed assessor in 1900. In 1901 he returned to the General Management of the State Railways. In 1903 he became a councilor in the transport department of the Foreign Ministry, in November 1903 a councilor at the General Directorate of the State Railways, in 1904 in the newly established Ministry of Transport, in 1905 a senior councilor at the General Directorate of the State Railways, in 1907 as a government director, and on October 1, 1911 at the same time as general secretary. In 1916 he received the title and rank of a Privy Councilor. From October 1921 until his death he was President of the Railway Directorate or Reichsbahndirektion in Munich.

Völckerstrasse was named after him in Munich.
