Jacobus Hermanus Hendrik Jan "Koos" de Jong (born April 7, 1912 in Rotterdam , † August 20, 1993 in Capelle aan den IJssel ) was a Dutch sailor .
successes
Koos de Jong participated in the Olympic Games in London in 1948 and in Helsinki in 1952 . In 1948 he took third place in the Firefly boat class with 5204 points behind Paul Elvstrøm and Ralph Evans , thus securing the bronze medal. Four years later he finished the regatta in the Finn dinghy in fourth place, with which he just missed another medal win. He was only 18 points behind third-placed Rickard Sarby , who had a total of 5051 points and in 1948 was fourth behind de Jong.
