Karl Wöllert

Karl Wöllert (born January 3, 1942 in Lundenburg , Moravia ) is a former Austrian politician ( SPÖ ) and managing director. From 1990 to 1997 he was a member of the Austrian Federal Council .

Karl Wöllert first attended elementary school and then completed a secondary school. He also trained at the Maturaschule Dr. Roland continues. He entered the service of the magistrate and was branch manager at the Volkshochschule Linz. Between 1982 and 1993 he was the state party secretary of the SPÖ Upper Austria, most recently from 1993 as managing director of the Gutenberg-Werbering company.

Politics and functions

Wöllert was active in the Socialist Party and its support organizations from an early age, and from 1957 to 1972 he held various managerial positions with the Rote Falken and the Austrian Children's Friends. He was elected a member of the Linz City Council in 1979, and served as the City Council until 1990. He took up a mandate in the Austrian Federal Council on December 12, 1990 and was a member of it until November 2, 1997. During his work in the Federal Council from 1996 to 1997 he was the deputy chairman of the committee for science and research and from 1996 to 1997 he was secretary in the committee for public economy and transport. He was also a member of the committee for public economy and transport, a member of the committee for science and research, a member of the EU committee and a member of the finance committee. He was also a substitute member in the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Federal Council, a substitute member in the health committee, a substitute member in the social committee, incompatibility committee and economic committee. From 1982 onwards, Wöllert was a member of the state party executive of the SPÖ Upper Austria, and he also held the position of section chairman of the SPÖ Bindermichl for over a quarter of a century . For his work, Wöllert was awarded the Viktor Adler plaque , the highest distinction of the Social Democratic Party.

From 1975 to 1990 Wöllert was a member of the supervisory board of Landeshypobank Oberösterreich and from 1982 to 1983 a member of the supervisory board of Gutenberg.
