Karl von Berg (theologian)

Karl Christian Friedrich Berg , from 1897 von Berg , (born August 20, 1837 in Kirchheim unter Teck , † June 17, 1921 in Ellwangen (Jagst) ) was a Protestant theologian from Württemberg.

After attending school and studying Protestant theology , Karl Berg began his professional career as a city vicar in his hometown in 1862. From 1864 to 1869 he was pastor of the German parish La Valette in Paris . In 1869 he went to the Trinity Church in Ulm as a deacon , and in 1878 he moved to the Ulm Minster . In 1881 he became dean and city pastor, at the same time district school inspector, in Calw and from 1887 to 1894 in Heilbronn.

In March 1894 he finally became prelate and general superintendent in Heilbronn . In 1900 he moved to Ludwigsburg as prelate and general superintendent . On July 1, 1912, Karl von Berg retired.

The general superintendents of the Evangelical Church were officially privileged members of the second chamber of the Württemberg state parliament . Karl von Berg therefore also entered the state parliament in 1894 after his appointment in Heilbronn. He held the office until his retirement.
