Karl Olga Medal
The Karl Olga Medal was donated by Queen Olga of Württemberg with the consent of her husband Karl I to celebrate the 25th anniversary of King Karl's reign on June 16, 1889. The award was given to men and women who had distinguished themselves in the service of the German Red Cross for the care of wounded and sick soldiers. The award was always made by the King of Württemberg at the request of the Queen.
Appearance
The medal , which was awarded in silver and bronze , shows the relief portraits of the ruling couple on the front, which is crowned by a red enamelled bar cross. All around KARL AND OLGA KÖNIG AND QUEEN OF WÜRTTEMBERG . The reverse bears the four-line inscription FOR MERIT AROUND THE RED CROSS and underneath a six-pointed star. The words VON DER PROTEKTORIN DES WÜRTT can be found all around. SANITARY CLUB OF THE RED CROSS .
The medal was engraved by the Württemberg court medalist Karl Schwenzer .
Carrying method
The award was worn on the ribbon on the left side of the chest. Women who received the award wore it on a women's bow.
