Karl von der Heyden

Karl M. von der Heyden (* 1936 in Berlin ) was Deputy Chairman of the Board of Management of PepsiCo from 1996 to 2001 , for which he had already worked from 1974 to 1979. He previously worked for RJR Nabisco .

After training at Berliner Bank , he studied at Freie Universität Berlin and Duke University , where he graduated in 1962. He then completed the MBA program at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania in 1964. He began his career in 1963 at Coopers & Lybrand in Philadelphia, moved to Pitney Bowes in 1966 and in 1980 to the HJ Heinz Company . In December 1993 he took over the chairmanship of the troubled metal company .

Together with Henry Kissinger , he forms the board of directors of the American Academy in Berlin .

He has two children and five grandchildren. He lives with his wife in New York City .
