Karlheinz Goldmann

Karlheinz Goldmann (born October 16, 1910 in Liegnitz ; † August 7, 1980 in Nuremberg ) was a German librarian .

Life

Goldmann was born the son of a manor owner and attended grammar school in Liegnitz and grammar school in Heiligenstadt . He studied Catholic theology , history , philosophy , ethnology and economics in Breslau and Berlin , passed his first theological state examination in 1932, and later his second. In 1933/34 he was head of the student body and the university group of the NSDStB in Breslau . In 1934 he founded the Catholic theological department of the German student body . In 1934/35 he worked as a consultant for Catholic questions in the Reichsamt NSDStB. From 1936 to 1939 he was a research assistant at the Department of History at Berlin University. He received his doctorate in Breslau in 1937 .

In 1937 he volunteered at the Berlin University Library , in 1938 at the Berlin State Library , and in 1939 he passed the library specialist examination. From 1940 to 1941 he was at the library of the Institute for Social and Forensic Medicine of the University of Berlin in World War II he served in 1945, the Library of the warehouse College of the German headquarters in Bellaria / Italy.

After the end of the war he worked as a bricklayer and passed his journeyman's examination in 1948. In the same year he passed the library assessor exam in Berlin. In 1952 Goldmann became provisional director of the Nuremberg City Library , and in 1954 director. In 1971 he became the chief library director. During his tenure, the Nuremberg City Library received a new building. Goldmann retired in 1972. In 1972 he married Frieda Schmidt.
