The Karlinbach is a 17 kilometer long tributary of the Reschensee in South Tyrol . The Karlinbach drains the Langtaufer valley in the Ötztal Alps . The catchment area extends over 110 km² and an altitude range from 3738 m on the Weißkugel to 1498 m on the Reschensee. The Karlinbach is strongly shaped by glaciers ; geologically, the catchment area is predominantly made up of mica schist and paragneiss .

The Karlinbach rises from the glacier tongue of the Langtauferer Ferners . Other glaciers in the catchment area are Bärenbartferner and Freibrunner Ferner . A significant tributary is the Rieglbach. The Karlinbach shows the typical discharge regime of a glacier stream with a maximum in spring and early summer when the snow melts and a minimum in the winter months. At Hinterkirch, one of the settlements in the Langtaufer Valley, water from the Karlinbach is diverted to generate electricity. At Graun it flows into the Reschensee.
