Karlpeter Elis

Karlpeter Elis (born January 27, 1945 in Graz , Styria , Austria ) is an Austrian educator and art historian. From 1986 to 2000 he was director of the school for graphic professions in Styria. At the same time, he was professor for specialist and media didactics at the Federal Education Academy and lecturer at the Institute for Art History, Educational Sciences and the media studies course at the Karl-Franzens University in Graz. He is currently teaching “media management” at the Institute for Management and Entrepreneurship. He is the founder of the Printing Museum Graz as well as the initiator and planner of the advanced training center for graphic professions at WIFI and the construction of the sports hall in the Graz-St. Peter.

Life

Karlpeter Elis was born as the son of Karl Elis, Administrative Director of the Regional Hospital Graz, and Maria Elis, née. Freisinger, born. Elis attended elementary school, grammar school and vocational school in Graz and completed an apprenticeship in graphics at the Styria university printing plant from 1961 to 1965. After serving in the Austrian Armed Forces , he worked as a sports journalist for the Kleine Zeitung from 1965 to 1971 . At the same time he attended evening grammar school for working people, where he graduated from high school in February 1973 .

In 1971 he switched to teaching at the vocational school for the graphic industry in Münzgrabenstrasse. From 1974 to 1976 he passed the teaching examinations for specialist groups II and III as well as physical exercises at the vocational education institute.

In 1981, Elis was appointed deputy director of State Vocational School VII in Graz. At the same time he studied art history and education with a focus on adult education at the Karl Franzens University in Graz and received his doctorate on June 26, 1986. phil.

On August 1, 1986, Karlpeter Elis was appointed director of the state vocational school for graphic professions as well as for hairdressers, beauticians, podiatrists and masseurs.
