Karlsruhe Rings

The Karlsruhe rings are a civil engineering rescue system developed for buried people . It is used in accidents with bulk goods and when rescuing people who have been spilled from easily slipping media.

The system consists of 5 (or more) nested metal cylinders . The system is placed on the surface of the bulk material and the medium is shoveled out from the inside or removed from the inside using a suction excavator . The inner cylinders slide into the resulting cavity and prevent the bulk material from sliding down from the side. The system is designed so that the individual cylinders also overlap when they are fully extended.

The system was invented by the Karlsruhe professional fire brigade . Today it is part of the standard equipment of some fire departments . The first generation of Karlsruhe rings is loaded onto the roll-off container arming / construction of the Karlsruhe fire brigade. The system is widely used today and is also part of courses.
