The Karosseriewerk Aug. Nowack AG was a German wheelwright and manufacturer of car bodies , which was based in Bautzen .

history

The factory was founded in 1863 by August Nowack as a carriage construction company. On February 17, 1922, the company was transformed into a stock corporation 'Aug. Nowack Karosseriewerk AG 'with effect from November 20, 1921. In the same year the company moved into a new factory building and was now producing bodies for Phenomenon vehicles. Around 500 workers built 30 body variants for cars, trucks and delivery vans.

From 1922 Nowack produced exclusively for Phenomenon as its only body supplier. The company name was changed to 'Aug. Nowack AG 'changed. In 1938–39, the Deutsche Reichspost commissioned new stagecoaches from Nowack for use in 25 German health resorts, which were delivered as Berline with Copé , equipped with panoramic glazing, sliding roof, drum brakes etc. T. are still in use today for tourists. In 1949 the plant was expropriated and then merged with VEB Roburwerke .
