Carpathian German Association

The Carpathian German Association has around 4800 members, most of whom live in Slovakia . Of the former 130,000 Carpathian Germans, they are the last to speak German or to feel that they are German . The association campaigns for the rights of Germans in Slovakia. It promotes German lessons for children and adults, organizes parties and publishes the only German newspaper in Slovakia: Karpatenblatt .

The Carpathian Germans are named after the Carpathian Mountains , which extend over Slovakia, the Czech Republic , Poland , Hungary , Romania and the Ukraine .
