Karsten Meyer (sailor)
Max Adolf Karsten Meyer (born November 5, 1937 in Hanover ) is a former German regatta sailor who competed for the Federal Republic of Germany.
Karsten Meyer belonged to the Schaumburg-Lippischen sailing club Steinhude . Meyer went as a substitute with the 1960 Olympic Games and jumped there for the diseased Eckart Wagner as Vorschotmann in the Star boat from Bruno Splieth one. They reached seventh place. At the Olympic Games in 1964 , Splieth and Meyer took sixth place in the star boat Bellatrix XIII . At the Olympic Games in 1968 Meyer took part again as a substitute.
In 1972 Meyer won the world championship title in the star boat as Willi Kuhweide's bowman in front of the boats from Brazil and the USA. At the Olympic sailing competitions off Kiel in 1972 , the Australian boat won ahead of the Swedes, Kuhweide and Meyer received the bronze medal. After 1972 Kuhweide and Meyer switched to the Soling boat class , in 1976 they became German champions in Soling together with Axel May . At the 1976 Olympic Regatta , Kuhweide, Meyer and May achieved sixth place.
