Kartobot

Kartobot ( Japanese ダ ン ボ ー Danbō , from ダ ン ボ ー ル danbōru , German “corrugated cardboard”) is a character from the manga series Yotsuba &! Drawn by Kiyohiko Azuma . - more specifically consisting of cardboard boxes composite robot costume of Yotsuba's girlfriend Miura Hayasaka.

The company Kaiyodo from the Japanese Kadoma has been producing a toy figure by Danbō ( リ ボ ル テ ッ ク ダ ン ボ ー Riborutekku Danbō ) under its Revoltec brand since the end of 2007 . Often the boxes show the picture mark of Amazon.co.jp , more rarely also 7-Eleven or, as part of a cooperation with the Japanese post office, also with the brand of their parcel service Yu-Pack. On the Internet you can find thousands of pictures of this character Danbō, as he is often used for macro photography and stop-motion films, and the pictures taken in this way mostly show Danbō in various everyday situations.

In December 2012 Sentinel ( 千 値 練 Senchineru ) released a 6 cm Danbō figure series in the shape of a cat called Nyanbō ( ニ ャ ン ボ ー ) or Nyanboard , where nyan is Japanese for meow . The large figure manufacturer Kotobukiya these brought out a 3.5 cm smaller version called Nyanboard nyano in December 2016 and a 9 cm larger version called Nyanboard [mini] in January 2017 .

On the public broadcaster NHK E , a computer-animated mini-series with five minutes long 26 episodes called Nyanbō! Was shown from September 27, 2016 to March 28, 2017 . . This is animated by the Shirogumi studio , with Akira Iwamoto as director and screenwriter. The Nyanbō are cat creatures from outer space whose spaceship has crashed and who are now looking for its scattered parts. The credits are about Yotsuba from the eponymous manga. Crunchyroll streamed the series parallel to the Japanese broadcast as a simulcast worldwide except Asia, u. a. with German subtitles.

  • Danbō appeared for the first time in chapter 28 ( With Yotsuba! Kartobot , よ つ ば と ダ ン ボ ー Yotsuba to Danbō ) of the manga series Yotsuba & !, which was later published in the fifth volume on April 27, 2006. He made his next appearance in chapter 69.
  • Danbō is also known under the names Danboard , Danboru , Danbooru , Cardbo and in the German version of Yotsuba &! also known as Kartobot .
  • On October 27, 2011, a photo book titled 365 Days of Danboard was published by the Japanese publisher ASCII Media Works . The photo book contains 365 different photos that were taken every day, from March 19, 2009 to March 18, 2010, by Arielle Nadel, a then American youth, and show Danbō in everyday situations.
  • The Thai public broadcaster Thai PBS uses the character as a mascot for its Little Citizen program .
  • The figure and other merchandise for Yotsuba &! is being sold in its own webstore called Yotsuba & Danboard Online Store , which will open a regular Yotsuba & Danboard Store as a special offer in the Marui City Shibuya department store from February 27 to April 5, 2015 .
