Karyorrhexis

As karyorrhexis (from the Greek karyon κάρυον, "core", and ῥῆξις rhexis "Tear") is a final decay, a destructive fragmentation in biology nucleus referred to, which can happen in dying cells. Usually, karyorrhexis is preceded by the shrinkage and compression of the cell nucleus, known as karyopycnosis . The process can take place both during programmed cell death ( apoptosis ) and as part of the pathological death of single or multiple cells.
