Marina Nigg (born April 24, 1984 in Vaduz ; married Marina Bürzle ) is a former Liechtenstein ski racer . She started mainly in the technical disciplines and celebrates her greatest successes in slalom .

biography

She is a graduate of the Stams Ski School . Her first appearance in the European Cup was on December 21, 2002 in the giant slalom in Zwiesel . Her debut in the World Cup was the giant slalom in Sölden on October 25, 2003, where she did not qualify for the second run. It was only four years later in her ninth World Cup race, the slalom on the Reiteralm on November 10, 2007, that she achieved her first result with 18th place. Two weeks later she was able to improve this performance in the Panorama slalom with 12th place.

At the Alpine World Ski Championships in Bormio in 2005 , she took part in slalom and giant slalom, but was eliminated in both races. Two years later at the 2007 World Championships in Åre , she finished 33rd in slalom, and 20th in the same discipline at the 2009 World Championships in Val-d'Isère . In 2010 she took part in the Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver and achieved 22nd place in slalom. On January 11, 2011, she achieved her best World Cup result with eleventh place in the Flachau slalom .

As a result, she could not improve any further. In 2013 and 2014, she never finished in the World Cup points. At the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi , she came in 21st place in slalom. Shortly after the end of the 2013/14 World Cup season, she announced her retirement from top-class sport.
