Kaspar von der Sitt (* probably in Amberg ) was a German stone etcher in the 16th century.

Life

Sitt was a citizen in Passau for a while , which he left in 1591 because of his Lutheran faith . He was an imperial notary and from 1598 resided in Amberg again.

His most famous works include the Passau Liedertisch from 1589 (today in the Kunsthistorisches Museum Vienna , collection of old musical instruments) and the Amberg Liedertisch, which he made in 1591 together with Hanns Leonhard Deinfelder for the city council.

Further works by Sitt can be found in the City Museum in the Hl.-Geist-Spital Nördlingen (oath sworn tablet, 1615), in Hohenschwangau Castle , in Laxenburg Castle , in the Bavarian National Museum , in the Württemberg State Museum in Stuttgart and in the Art History Museum in Vienna.
