The Hamburg Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians is a public corporation at Humboldtstrasse (Hamburg) 56. The Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians has its origins in the 1919 Hamburg Agreement between the Association of Health Insurance Physicians in Greater Hamburg and the Health Insurance Companies. In 1931, the Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians was legally regulated by Brüning's Emergency Ordinance , and in 1933 after the National Socialists came to power, it was effectively disbanded by prohibiting Jewish doctors from working. From 1948 there were free elections by the Hamburg medical profession. The location was initially at Gurlittstrasse 9 / corner of An der Alster 47, from 1979 on Humboldtstrasse. In 1955 the associations of statutory health insurance physicians became public corporations. With the Health Structure Act , medical services were capped by budgets. From 1959 there was care by emergency doctors. Emergency practices were set up from 1982. Later the emergency number 116117 was introduced.

The first Hamburg Medical Center of the Hamburg Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians in Humboldtstrasse was built from 1974 to 1976 and used from 1976 to 2014. From 2014 to 2015 it was demolished due to structural defects. In September 2017, the newly built medical center in Humboldtstrasse was moved into. It has an underground car park in the basement, lecture halls on the ground floor and gallery floor and the administrative departments on the 1st-5th floor. First floor. Medical emergency service

Outside the doctor's office hours, outpatient medical care is organized at night and on weekends by a medical emergency service by telephone (telephone 040 22 80 22 or 116117). This can result in a telephone consultation, a doctor's visit to the patient, forwarding to the emergency services (telephone 112), outpatient care in emergency practices.
