In the years 1989 to 2000 Frank Rosenzweig illustrated more than 70 books for young people in addition to his free artistic work .

In 1989 he produced a series of large-format ink and pen drawings, portraits of jazz musicians under the title "Jazzpaintings". His tendency to work intensively on topics, sometimes over the years, was already evident here.

From 1994 first exhibitions on the topic of "children". From 1999 he worked on the cycle “99 Faces of a Woman”, a large number of portraits of his wife Valerie in order to discuss the many facets of a single person. After surviving cancer in 2006, he developed a new painting technique in which controlled iron oxidation leaves traces on the canvas. He uses this rust as a symbol for transience and creates, in the tradition of vanitas painting , an examination of the finiteness of human existence.
